Helaine Olen is a New York based journalist.
She is currently writing The Wishing Well, a look at the culture of personal finance, for Penguin’s Portfolio imprint and blogging daily for Babble.com. She is the co-author, with Stephanie Losee, of Office Mate: The Employee Manual for Finding and Managing Romance on the Job, a book the The New York Times called “The Rules for the office” and Time Magazine said was “thoughtful” and “persuasive.”
Her work on personal finance, parenting, families, books, feminism, politics, and career strategy has been published in numerous print and on-line publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Slate.com, Salon.com, BusinessWeek, AlterNet.org and The Los Angeles Times, where she wrote and edited the popular “Money Makeover” feature. She’s a passionate bibliophile, a fan of 1970s pop music and a lover of rummage sales. She lives with her family in the Hudson Valley, just north of New York City.
